Although the new 2024 Hyundai Kona’s basic engine is not yet known, it may be the same 2.0-liter four-cylinder that powers the present model and produces 147 horsepower and 132 lb-ft of torque. Don’t expect to go from 0 to 60 mph in a flash, but its straightforward powertrain with front-wheel drive could help to keep the Kona’s starting price reasonable.
The 1.6-liter turbocharged four-pot used in the current Kona N Line generates 195 horsepower and 195 lb-ft of torque. According to independent testing, it can propel the Kona N Line to 60 mph in under 7.5 seconds when coupled with a seven-speed dual-clutch automatic. Yet again, there is no official word on whether or not this powertrain will remain.
There isn’t an existing Kona hybrid to serve as a comparison for the new Kona hybrid. Maybe Hyundai will follow the example of the Elantra Hybrid, a fuel-efficient car with 139 horsepower and 195 pound-feet of torque that puts excellent gas efficiency above performance. All-wheel drive should be an option, just like previously.

The pricing of the 2024 Hyundai Kona is a mystery, much like when it will be released.
